Material Planner (Materials Department)

Scope of Responsibilities:

Co-ordinate the flow of material from raw material through manufacturing.

Key Duties:

  • Responsible for all material availability to support the manufacturing process
  • Responsible for the release scheduling of inbound raw materials and components, ensuring
       adequate stock levels for production requirements
  • Responsible for the co-ordination of all outside services, monitoring flow of parts to and from
       outside service providers and suppliers
  • Develop the release and scheduling of raw materials utilizing the existing MRP system
  • Co-ordinate cycle counts of raw materials, and update CMS accordingly
  • Identify, develop, and document inventory release strategy for critical components
  • Drive the daily diagnostics of inventory, and root causes of errors
  • Develop a kanban system for all purchased parts, to ensure FIFO and reorder points

Education Required:

Business Degree, with preference to those with an Operations Management Specialization. CAPIC/ APICS certification is an asset.

Experience Required:

  • MRP experience is required
  • Automotive background
  • Computer literate in Word processing and spreadsheets at an advanced level
  • Production scheduling experience an asset
  • Inventory control experience
  • Problem solving techniques
